Garmin Etrex GPS
Garmin Etrex GPS devices.
Garmin is now one of the largest manufacturers in car GPS devices and these devices were widely praised for their easy usability and accurate performance. Currently, Garmin Etrex GPS devices are being sold today for budget consumers and frequent travelers.
The Garmin Etrex H is the most affordable of the entire series and has the same design as the early eTrex that gained its popularity long ago. The eTrex Legend models consist of 2 models that both add on to the features of the eTrex H. The Garmin eTrex Legend H stands on the budget end costing slightly higher than the eTrex H. Other maps can be stored in its 24 MB internal memory as well. Check also Garmin Etrex Venture.
The eTrex Legend HCx model is a bit wider in shape, but the most noticeable feature is the 256-color screen display that can be seen under direct sunlight. The eTrex Vista H is the affordable model that can still be purchased for under $200, but has a monochrome display like the Legend H. The eTrex Vista HCx model has the same features, but a color display instead.
If the HCx models are too expensive, there are two other models that both have color screen displays. The eTrex Venture HC is a high-performing GPS device that costs less than the monochrome Vista H. It lacks the built-in compass and barometric altimeter, but it has the same yellow design and shape as the original eTrex and contains the same 24 MB internal memory for storing maps. The eTrex Summit has similar features as Vista HCx, but costs less because of the absence of an SD card slot.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love the handheld Garmin eTrex GPS unit. Whether you’re hiking, bicycling, hunting, geo caching, camping, or involved in any outdoor adventure, this unit will satisfy your take-off urges. The display screen is about 1.25 x 2.25 inches. It’s sturdy, period-it won’t break if you drop it. The buttons are on the side of the unit, making it easy to operate with one hand. Check also GPS hand held.
When you put the handheld Garmin eTrex GPS unit into action, you’ll find that its menu is easy to access. Drop-down style choices are featured, and it accepts alphanumeric entry so that you can quickly type in your waypoint entry. This eTrex unit tracks position from twelve satellites, and the tracking is continuous. This little unit has so many additional features.
The handheld Garmin eTrex GPS unit will enable you to figure out your current speed as well as your average speed. The ability to display altimeter or barometer readings is nifty. The unit will provide you with sun-up or sundown time in your location, and with these various readings you can safety calculate your distance from your endpoint and the time you need to get there. The AA batteries you need to operate the Garmin eTrex handheld GPS unit will last a generous twenty-two hours, but as a matter of safety you should always pack spare batteries.
